Data System for Assessment of Foreign Citizens’ Professional Experience and Issuance of Documents for Equivalence to Higher Education Qualifications

The equivalence of professional experience to a higher education qualification was created to enable highly qualified foreigners with at least 5 years of professional experience but no higher education diploma to enter employment more quickly. A document confirming recognition is issued if the set conditions are met: the job offered by a Lithuanian employer requires high professional qualifications; the profession is not regulated and the foreigner has no higher education diploma but has at least 5 years of professional experience, or at least 3 years of professional experience during the last 7 years; the profession in which the foreigner intends to work is classified in major groups 1, 2 or 3 of the Lithuanian Classification of Occupations, and other conditions. The system records the country from which the specialist arrives, the specific occupation title and classifier code, and information on decisions made.
