In situ soil temperature database

The in situ soil temperature database is an initiative launched at the end of 2018. The database stores data on soil, soil surface and air temperature at a height of 15 cm, as well as soil moisture parameters. Measurements are taken in situ at 15-minute intervals using specially adapted data loggers. These loggers are distributed across the country in natural or semi-natural meadow communities. Such data allow climate change and its effects on plant communities to be assessed more accurately than with data collected by traditional meteorological stations. The records can be used to understand and explain how global ecological processes depend on microclimatic conditions.
